Standard Transparent non-reverse image decals2. FOIL decals (a little harder to produce thus a little more expensive) in both GOLD & SILVER.3. what we would poably call a “Dry Sticker,” for thoise who are less confident or, who want to get inolved but not to the extent of tooling up with all the necessary kit to deal with “water decals.”We will gradually expand our range over time until we have the full ensemble. Cheers, …Adam… **NOTIFICATION** 08 June 2024 Salutations people .. we have some new “Transparent/Standard” decals both of the “Large” and “Small” variety, with the larger ones being nearly double the size of the smaller variety. Handling procedures are much the same as for the “White Toner” variety except that they are not “reverse image” so no need to flip them. HOWEVER, they are not as versatile as the “White Toner” variety when it comes to background colours and you will need to carefully choose the background upon which they are applied, lest the viewability of the decal itself once applied become diminished. Any background colour other than white will in some way affect the colouring of the decal.**NOTIFICATION** Wat’s ‘appening people? If you prefer, or if you also like a written explanation, we are happy to offer the following for your consideration: For best results, we additionally recommend “Decal Setting & Softening Solutions” such as those provided by Tamiya, MicroSol, Mr Mark and the like. 1. **CRUCIAL – CLEAR COAT the DECAL – 3 LAYERS** Spray the decal gently, evenly AND of sufficient thickness using “clear” paint prior to use and allow to dry. One needs to be mindful of the specific requirements of the “clear” of your choice. One succesful product solution requires one hour drying in between coats and then 24hrs drying after the final 3rd coat and prior to use. .. Additionally, please be aware that environmental conditions can cause the drying process to be either longer or shorter. It might be an idea to check your decals regularly until you are confident about the time required for a perfect dry. .. To ensure that the decal doesn’t fly off when spraying, secure the decal onto a flat medium, such as a piece of cardboard, either using a mounting board or some other crafty methodology. 2. **CUT OUT the DECAL** Once dry, cut out the decal with a sharp blade or sharp scissors. To be cautious about it, cut wide to start with, and then as you get your eye in, gradually trim to the precise line required, being mindful that it is better to have a little excess than to overcut the decal. No need to try and get the job done in one go unless you are supremely confident. If in doubt, just trim a little, then a little more .. take your time, breathe, relax, and enjoy the ride. 3. **BRIEFLY SOAK the DECAL** Dip the decal into lukewarm water until the back layer of the decal can be easily slid off, say by the push pull action between your thumb and forefinger or if the Decal is very small, perhaps a pair of tweezers. You need to leave the decal in the lukewarm water for long enough to be able to easily slide off and detach. But at the same time, you do not want to leave the decal in the water for too long – 8-10 seconds should be about right. 4. **APPLY the DECAL to the DIECAST** Lift the decal, then gently slide it off its backing and on to the pre-wet position on the body of the diecast that you are working on. You can then slide the entire layer slowly into its precise position with the small amount of wetness on top of the “clear coating” on your diecast acting as a lubricant for the sliding procedure, either with a finger or say a cotton stick or ideally cedramic headed tweezers. Once you are satisfied with the position of the decal, gently wipe the decal and other wet areas dry with a tissue or cotton bud or tissue wrapped toothpick until the remaining water has been exhausted and any air bubbles underneath the decal have been gently massaged out. Please note that the sliding of the decal into position should be able to be accomplished with a minimal amount of force. If you are meeting resistance in situ, you may need to gently re-wet the decal and applicable areas first prior to proceeding with attempting to move the position of the decal again. Another reason that you could be meeting with resistance could be because the undersurface of the diecast that you are working on has not yet been fully prepared by finishing the painting with an adequate coating of “Clear Paint” such as 2K or whichever your favorite “clear” is in the circumstances. 5. **DRY the DECAL** Allow your new decals time to dry for at least 4 hours, ideally in a temperate and dark place to minimize the risk of uneven drying. .. **TIPS** a) We recommend a “wet” ie generous application of “clear” initially and then for the decals to be dried under gravity by either resting them tilted or alternatively by hanging them in order that any excess “clear” may accumulate at the bottom of the sheet. b) We recommend that the body of the diecast body be made to be moist (not saturated and dripping) with (distilled ideally) luke warm water which will make it easier to slide the decal into position and then to be able to easily maneuver it as required. c) To remove any air bubbles or residual water remaining under and or around the decals, you can use a tool such as a cotton stick or a toothpick covered with tissue to press down gently on the affected area and smooth out the bubbles and dry up any excess moisture. d) For maximal results and to generate the impression that the decal is fully blended with the body, paint “clear” again over the whole body evenly once the application of decals has been totally completed. You can either use a matte or glossy “clear” as you please. .. **PRECAUTIONS** i. As “Clear Paint” dries over time it also hardens, and this can cause the decal to become rigid, even brittle if they are left too long. Should this occur, it can compromise the application process, therefore, avoid spraying your decals until you are close to the time that you are ready to use them and then once they are ready, move promptly to set them in place as appropriate whilst they remain in an optimal and flexible condition. ii.
